For those who wonder what flowers is in my header picture, it’s daffodils. I took the picture almost a year ago, in Mainau Island, Lake Constance, Germany. They are beautiful, aren’t they? Here’s a brief story about this beautiful little one or known as Narcissus.
Narcissus is the botanic name for a genus of mainly hardy, mostly spring-flowering, bulbs in the Amarillys family native to Europe, North Africa, and Asia.
Named after a youth character in Greek mythology called Narcissus who became so obsessed with his own reflection as he kneeled and gazed into a pool of water that he fell into the water and drowned. The first flowers sprang in the place he died was then named after him.
Daffodils become my second favorite flowers after Chrysanthemums. Why not roses or else may you ask. It simply because I don’t like the shape of roses’ petals. Weird reason, yeah. But for me, these flowers are extremely beautiful.
